Crashed back to earth

After 4 whole weeks of not dealing with anything skid related we had them over the weekend. Sd10 was so ridiculously annoying even dh told her off at least 10 times for acting like a toddler. Trying to go out of the house in just a T-shirt. Screeching like a banshee while speaking to someone about a foot away from her. Trying to swing off her dads arm like a 2 year old. Playing with her food and jumping around like a demented fish while others were trying to eat.

Sd13 doesn't seem to have learnt how to dress appropriately at all she either looks like a goth stripper or a homeless bum. I took my dd10 and sd13 to a castle thing with park pond animals etc (uk) it was freezing and she wore short jeans and a hoody that was her mums (bm is quite a big lady) with stains all down the front of it. That came to her knees. No coat.

Worst bit about their clothing or lack of is that it looks bad on me. Everything's too short or has stains on. If they were mine theyd be sent back up to get changed.

My SD (now 29) used to dress horribly. BM would never buy her new clothes, she wore raggedy hand-me-downs, that often didn't even fit. I refused to take her out in pants that were 4 inches too long!

We bought her clothes to keep at our house. You can often find brand new or nearly new stuff at thrift stores, so doesn't have to cost a lot of money.

Luckily, my SD has always been modest so we never worried about her dressing like a stripper. She did do the heavy black eyeliner when she was a teenager. DH was not happy!

Oh I hear you completely! I’m also in the UK, with 2 skids (DD is now 22 and thankfully a decent and lovely person). My skids dress as if they got the rejects from a charity/goodwill store. Faded, stained, too small... Their father works in one of the world’s largest banks, it’s shameful. I am disengaged from them and avoid them meeting my family and friends as much as possible. I have tried to encourage hygiene, care over their appearance, looking clean and tidy. But after 3 years, I stopped bothering. It’s easier to grit my teeth and let them get on with it, than continually calling things out to them or their dad. The skids are now 11 and nearly 14. If they can’t dress themselves properly by now, it reflects on them. I just focus on myself!
