Oh my F-ing Gosh...
I just had to sit on my hands to not slap the taste out of SS11's mouth. DH told him to get off the computer, and after 5 or 6 "Hold ons" I finally just walked over there and closed the laptop. Nothing of importance was on that computer, school's over, so it's not homework. Both SS's are habitual offenders when it comes to not listening and doing as they're told, plus after spending an additional 9-10 hours working with little kids who also don't listen, I'd had it. He stormed off and said, "You're stinkin' rude, Boogeymom!" I thought I was going to fly off the handle. Too bad for him the next time we have them on the weekend, it's Memorial weekend, so looks like his ass will be grounded for 3 days instead of 2. I really don't need for him to even LOOK at me for the next month. I'll likely confiscate his cell phone, too, so he can't text his mom all weekend about how he "doesn't want to come here anymore," like he did the last time. Asshole.

It's DH's computer, and they
It's DH's computer, and they have to ask to be on it AND get off of it when he tells them to. I would NEVER let either of them near my laptop. I would use a kitchen timer, but then it would go off, and I'd hear, "Hold on...hold on...hold on...just hold on a sec...hold on..." Or they'd just keep going and pretend they didn't hear either of us or the timer. Then I'd just end up closing the laptop anyway. God love, DH, but he's not as good at reinforcement as I am, and I don't play. He only got 5 or 6 "Hold ons" in instead of 2 because I wanted to see if DH would actually do anything about it.
Say something like, "if you
Say something like, "if you had listened in the first place, maybe you wouldn't make me be that way!" If you want to see boogey mama... I will SHOW you boogey mama. Watch the behavior sonny.
Oh yeah, and I bet he thinks
Oh yeah, and I bet he thinks I'll forget about it, too, but I really mean to see him grounded in true boogeymom fashion...in the room, door closed, no TV, no computer, no phone, no video games, only come out to eat and go to the bathroom. THAT'S how I was grounded as a kid and you'd better believe I never did it again. I already pre-warned DH I'm super serious.
Good... parents aren't meant
Good... parents aren't meant to be friends. They are meant to be PARENTS! MB your dh can enforce your rules instead of you having to directly do it.
I'm the cell phone Nazi in
I'm the cell phone Nazi in our house. No cell phones at the dinner table. Period. DH's kid thought I was picking on her until her older cousin and her husband joined us for dinner one night. Both had phones at the table and started to buzz with texts. I looked at them both, smiled and said "DH's kid, what's the rule at the dinner table?" Her eyes got huge and she said "No cell phones at dinner or Shaman will take them away."
They both looked at me like I was nuts, assuming since they're adults (20 & 21) I wouldn't dare enforce this rule on them. I said it again, in THIS house we do not allow cell phones at the dinner table. They both put them away and have adhered to the rule ever since.
I love your posts! So glad to
I love your posts! So glad to hear i am not alone when it comes to this stuff! I've tried for 1/2 an hour to get my SS7 up...he just says no and rolls over. If that were my daughter I would have never let that happen, but I can't treat him like I would my own...can I say this SUCKS somedays!
