Weddings = Drama
SD22's wedding was on Saturday. The wedding itself was fine - the weather was nice (it was outdoors), my bios (2 year old twins and 5 year old DS, the SDs' half-siblings) were about as well-behaved as I could expect and actually walked down the aisle as ring-bearers and flower-girl, and everyone showed up.
The reception, however.... Fortunately most of it did not directly affect me, so I found it more funny than anything else! The wedding was at 6, then pictures, then dinner. Bedtime for the twins is usually 7:30, but we did late naps so they could stay up later. But there was NO nap that was going to allow for how long dinner took!! I finally left at NINE PM (DH got a ride home from friends) and they had JUST served chicken!! I don't know what the hell the problem was, but they just could not seem to get it together. (And my chicken was pink on the inside, so I think they tried to "rush" cooking it!) I've had several people so far tell me how horrible the dinner was.
Actually, that was one problem I had with this wedding planning to start with. They wanted kids at the wedding, which is fine, but then don't have a night wedding! Apparently I started a mass exodus too - when other people saw the SMother of the bride leaving during dinner, they decided they didn't have to stay with their little ones either! My husband said within 10 minutes of me leaving, all families with children (about 30% of the guests) left as well. And by the time he left an hour later, everyone our age and older left too - leaving about 25 people for the dancing and party. SD22 was furious that everyone left. (She told me that she "understood" that *I* left, but she's mad at everyone else. Whatever. I told her that if DS2 stayed for even 5 more minutes he was going to have a meltdown of truly epic proportions and completely ruin her wedding. DS5 and DD2 would have been OK for a bit longer, but DS2 had had it.)
I did have one, small, bad moment when the photographer insisted on a wedding picture with SD, her new hubby, BM and my DH. *sigh* But I let it go. It's one picture, and not one I hope to ever see. Plus I had the consolation that BM looked ridiculous. She was wearing a "dress" so short (and tight) that she had to keep yanking down the bottom to cover her ass. I took a picture from the back, in fact, I was so amused.
Anyway, since I left when I did, I missed most of the drama. God knows I heard about it though! There was a lot (cat fighting, most of it), but I have to mention the funniest one. SD22 and her new hubby live with SD20 and SD20's baby and BabyDaddy. They had an "after party" at their apartment. Why on earth they didn't have the baby spend a night at one of his grandparents I will never know, but they didn't. So around 5 am, BabyDaddy hears noise on the monitor and thinks his kid is awake. He goes into the baby's room... and finds two of the "guests" having sex on the floor next to the crib and the sleeping baby! Both the SDs are outraged that someone had sex next to the baby. I sort of can't stop giggling about someone being oblivious enough to have sex next to an active baby monitor.

Holy hell! They should have gotten a babysitter for their baby.
Who knows who else could have snuck in there and possibly of done something to harm the baby.

My son and his woman got married on Saturday too...outdoors at their home.
When both my bios got married, they didn't do the waiting forever to seat and feed everyone. They had appetizers so everyone could grab enough to hold them over until the Grill Dude got the meat done and ready to serve. They told people to eat while doing the pics, very informal. Of course, being at their house, all the kids could run and play and not have to worry about clothes or getting on the adults nerves.
