O/T But is involves a car that milage was tampered with
We bought a car about 3 weeks ago, the perfect car for us as it sits 8 people. We thought it was great till while on vac. it rolled over 210k miles when it was supposed to roll over 110k miles. UMMM what the heck???? Well we took it in to a few mechanic and 1 said it had been tampered with the other 2 said they couldn't tell. We took it back to the car lot we bought it from and to my surprise they were very nice about it and wanted to get a car fax on it. So today they called and said yep without a doubt it was tampered with and they want to put us in a new car! I am blown away by the car lot and the way they handled it. We go tonight to pick out our new car but I still liked the one we originally got b/c of the size and how many people it sat. I'm kinda sad. I want to find one just like that one.

A used car but I did ask my dh way they didn't do a car fax on it before hand. However the car lot told us last night that the person in question will be prosecuted.
I found out that tapering with the mileage holds a jail term. It was 100k miles poof gone!
That is the reason I'm sad b/c when you buy used cars you are limited to what is on their lots. So I was hoping we could get the same car but i don't think that will happen. I'm happy they are working with us on this and have not gotten nasty with us but just said we will put you in another car of your choice.

Yes the car lot I didn't understand why they didn't do a car fax before they put it on their lot. I agree they are in trouble. Makes me wonder. HMMM
They said it was a trade in from another guy and it has 101k miles it and the titles that we got says that but then like I said it rolled over 210k when it was supposed to roll over 110k. That was their answer to why they didn't know it was tampered with. But why not do a car fax first?

i am trying to read it now but it is hard to follow. However I was already in the camp of thinking they already knew b/c why would a big car lot like the one we bought this one from not do a car fax first? This car lot is huge where I'm at.

Updated on this, they are giving us a month to find the car we want and to take our time. They have really been working with us as they should. I told my dh all the info you gave me and we worked out a plan IF they didn;t give us what we wanted. But so far they have given us everything we have asked for and never griped!

Yep thanks we have been looking so far we are looking a suberbon (i don't know how to spell that) It is bigger but I think it would be worth it since all our boys are big think over 6'. Theyf will need the room!
I don;t know that I've seen
I don;t know that I've seen one up close. But I the one we had was a tahoe and I loved it but so far I haven't seen another on their lots yet. It sat 8 people, i loved that idea since there is 7 people in our family and with how big our boys are they need that room. They didn't fight as much on our vacation as they did when I was coming back from mil's that lives 2 hours away.
