How old is too old?

I haven't posted in over a year...

SD is almost 21 and home from college for the entire 2 weeks we are off!!!!!

SD has a job and place to stay where she goes to school. She cleverly booked her flight to land the FIRST morning we were off and booked flight back the LAST afternoon we are off. Told us after she had booked....which left me fuming.

She is an annoyance who lays around, naps, and complains to everyone about how bad she has it. Has no car here because MY extra car had to hauled out to her to use at school. So she is basically guilting her dad into all trips out which I have kept to a minimum. We have two much younger kids, it's Christmas... It's their turn for fun.... Dad is not a taxi.

I have noted that all of our adult friends with kids this age ARENT home for Christmas living free. Why is ours???

Isn't this about the time where SD stays and WORKS like the "adult" she thinks she is. I am worried about the summer.

SD destroyed our relationship w DHs family...took DH a while but he saw the light? I can't have this kid in my house...isn't she too old to be come to "daddy's house"?????

The only time I came home for an entire college break, was the first winter break I was in college. I only did that because 1. I wasn't working yet. My parents wanted my first semester focused on school and 2. I lived in the dorms and the dorms closed over the break. I had just turned 19.

After that I was home for maybe a week during summer between spring semester and summer sessions starting, and maybe a week total visiting each parent during the holidays. I was working, took advantage of summer and winter classes to graduate early. At 21 I had already finished my undergrad (I'm only 25 now). I couldn't imagine spending a whole break at "home". Neither did any of my 3 siblings. We were all too busy trying to build our own lives than trying to be 'kids'.

Honestly I'm disgusted with my generation most of the time

When we were in college, my sister and I went home or visited my grandmother for each break.

My son is a senior. He comes home or goes to visit his dad every break.

I don't know any college kids who stay in their apartments during break. Most want to get home and spend time with their family and old friends.

In my experience, parents look forward to their kids coming home. You cook their favorite foods and hang out with them a bit.

When I was 21, I was married, in college full time and working full time. I believe like another poster I came home my first semester for Christmas because I was not working yet and was living in a dorm and had no transportation on campus. The other years I always had a job and would return to my apartment to work, come home for a few days here and there.
